your weather forecast in just a momentl, but first we start with breaking news. about an hour ago we learned state police are investigating a overnight shooting on interstate 64 in newport news. someone shot two people. 10 on your side's rico bush is live with details. rico. on today's date, february 18 2016, at approximately 2 am. the virginia state police communications center received a call of a possible shooting. the incident occurred on interstate 64 at mile marker 259 (near harpisville road), in the city of newport news. two male occupants were traveling in the left lane of interstate 64 when an unknown vehicle pulled up beside them and fired upon them. both victims were transported to riverside hospital, suffering non life threating injuries. no information regarding suspect's vehicle has been obtained. the vsp bureau of criminal investigations was called upon to investigate the shooting and are currently at the scene.

they also say nine people have been arrested in connection with the attack, and that syrian kurdish militants are responsible. the huge explosion killed at least 28 people, and hurt more than 60 others. a turkish newspaper said investigators identified the syrian national through fingerprints. it also said the man had been registered as a refugee in turkey. new this morning, we can show you security camera footage of the bomb. it's a little fuzzy, but you can see someone walk down the street and cars then moments later white obscuring the camera, and smoke left behind. the buses targeted were carrying military personnel. new this morning a school bus erupts in flames. you'll hear from one of the students who got off the bus just before it caught fire. plus, tragedy in colorado. two dogs died in a house fire. ahead, who investigators believe started it.

new this morning, major news for anyone who owns a toyota. we're on your side with a massive recall warning you need to know about. the automaker is recalling 2-point-87 million vehicles because of a seat-belt issue. toyota executives say a piece of metal could damage the seat-belt during a crash, which could keep it from properly

most of the vehicles affected are the rav-4 s-u-vs made between july 2005 and august 2014. if you own one, toyota says it will contact you about replacing the belt. we've put details on wavy-dot-com. we're following breaking news out of detroit where u-s customs agents say they just stopped a couple from bringing in more than $4-and-a-half million dollars in counterfeit bills. check out these pictures of the evidence. agents say the vietnamese couple flew in from south korea. there say there were several bundles of fake vietnamese bills, too. agents say because the couple never tried to spend the money, they weren't arrested and were allowed to continue their trip. new this morning, more than a dozen students are safe after their bus burst into flames. you can see in this video just how intense the fire was. this happened in alabama. the bus driver noticed some smoke coming from the front and got all 15 students off the bus.

moments later. a witness in an office nearby says she could feel the heat coming off the fire. :48 - 1:00 sharon martin/witness then it just all of a sudden went throug the engine, and then the whole bus engulfed in flames." dylan gackley/escaped bus fire: "we all got off the back eventually the rest of the bus caught on fire." fortunately no one was hurt. fire officials say the fire started in the bus's engine. they are still trying to figure out what started it. the bus was at a mechanic shop just hours before the fire. new this morning, firefighters in colorado say a dog is to blame for starting a house fire. crews say it happens more often than you think. four dogs were inside the home in colorado springs when the fire started. investigators say one of the dogs turned on a burner on a gas stove. they suspect the dog was trying to get to a pizza box sitting on top of the stove. cathy hook/ colorado springs fire department "we see fires all the time from combustibles that should not have ever been

area. you should keep anything that is flammable at least 3 feet away from that stovetop area" two dogs died in the fire, but two others survived. fire investigators say the stove was older and did not have the pilot safety built in. family members say they will not leave food on the stove any more. only on 10, we're hearing from a man portsmouth police believe killed a teenager. 19-year-old raykwuan short is one of five suspects in the murder of a 17-year- old boy last may. three of those suspects are still on the streets this morning. meanwhile, 18-year-old samking beale, turned himself in to police last week. all five men are accused of shooting and killing 17-year-old jayzavia hill. two other people were also hurt, but survived the drive-by shooting on deep creek boulevard. short says he turned himself in because he did not kill the teen and has nothing to hide. "why are we even being arrested for something we didn't do. we are the victims here. my car got

town hall he did with m-s-n-b-c yesterday. according to regent's website, trump's visit is so popular there are no more tickets in the auditorium. the university is now giving out tickets so people can watch his speech on television in a different room. ben carson is also headed to regent unversity later this month on february 29th. he was one of several candidates to participate in a town hall last night hosted by c-n-n. a new nbc news wall street journal poll shows donald trump is no longer the frontrunner in the race for president. ted cruz now holds the top spot with 28th percent. trump slipped to 26-percent. marco rubio is in 3rd at 17-percent. he's the most widely liked g-o-p candidate among republicans. john kasich has 11-percent, and ben carson isn't far behind with just 10- percent. jeb bush is in a distant fifth place with just four-percent. a new democratic poll shows hillary clinton and

the issue. new this morning president barack obama is new this morning president barack obama is expected to visit cuba next month. the white house is planning to make the announcement later today. this will be a big step as the u-s and cuba continue to normalize relations after decades of broken ties. the white house is eager to make progress on building trade and diplomatic ties with cuba, before the president leaves office. earlier this week both nations signed a deal that would restore commerical flights. the last sitting president to visit cuba was calivn coolidge in 1928.

barack obama and the first lady will visit the supreme court tomorrow. it's to pay his respects to the late supreme court justice antonin scalia. the late justice's body will lay in repose friday in the supreme court's great hall. the white house says vice president joe biden and his wife will attend scalia's funeral on saturday. scalia died on saturday at the age of 79. he joined the court back in 1986 and was its longest-serving justice. developing news this morning, americans are split as to whether or not the senate should vote for the president's nominee to the supreme court. that's according to a new nbc news-wall street journal poll. the survey found voters are divided along party lines. 43 percent said they wanted the senate to vote this year, while 42 percent wanted to wait for the next president. president barack obama said he would pick a nominee in due time. apple's fight over a judge order is developing

people on both sides of the issue have come forward. senator ted cruz and the new york police department support the judge's order. as we first reported yesterday, a judge ordered apple to help the f-b-i unlock an i-phone belonging to a suspected terrorist in the san bernardino shooting. digital rights advocates oppose the demand. yesterday people who support apple's decision rallied outside their store in san francisco. they agree with apple that the order endagers phone privacy for millions of users. apple's c-e-o, tim cook said the order sets a dangerous precedent. happening today the trial is scheduled to begin against a local woman accused of stealing a dog on the eastern shore. deputies in accomack county say a neighbor saw bettina rodriguez and two others steal a dog on matthews road in january of last year. the witness said rodriquez, charlene boyajian, and gordon shell put the dog in a u-haul and drove away. police stopped the truck at the chesapeake bay bridge

group, but not the dog. deputies believe they handed the dog to someone else. boyajian and shell's trials start later. each face a charge of stealing an animal. virginia beach city leaders have until the end of april to show commitment to the light rail project. the city's intentions came into question when word of a referendum on november's ballot got back to state leaders. transportation secretary aubrey layne now says, the city needs to apply to purchase rail cars. and sign an agreement with the state that they will stay on schedule with the project. if not - the state will pull the funding. a resolution on the topic came out the day hampton roads transit held a light rail open house. we asked residents what they think the city should do. james gardner - for light rail c5 8:20:21 - i can understand the city's perspective and not wanting to commit before they know how much it's going to cost. but i hope they can do that quickly. because i'd be really sad that are badly needed.

right now any way.:20 layne said the agreement that must be signed by april 30th does not make the project a done deal. the city manager told 10 on your side the memorandum of understanding should be before city council in 30 days. there's good news for local shipyards and their employees this morning. the navy signed a contract that could be worth about two and a half billion dollars through 20-21. that money could go to three norfolk shipyards including b-a-e systems, which plans to layoff 530 employees in march. the two other yards hydraulics and general dynamics. the award won't be enough to stop the layoffs, but it could help workers get jobs in the future. attention job seekers, target is hiring hundreds of new people to work in their distribution center in suffolk. the company says it's expanding the facility on manning bridge road and adding six- hundred new jobs. the

safe after their bus burst into flames. you can see in this video just how intense the fire was. this happened in alabama. the bus driver noticed some smoke coming from the front and got all 15 students off the bus. it erupted into flames moments later. a witness in an office nearby says she could feel the heat coming off the fire. throug the engine, and then the whole bus engulfed in flames." dylan gackley/escaped bus fire: "we all got off the back of the bus and we went over there and then the whole front of the bus caught on fire, and then eventually the rest of the bus caught on fire." fortunately no one was hurt. fire officials say the fire started in the bus's engine. they are still trying to figure out what started it. the bus was at a mechanic shop just hours before the fire. new this morning, firefighters in colorado say a dog is to blame for starting a house fire. crews say it happens more often than you think. four dogs were inside the home in colorado springs when the fire started. investigators

for whoever shot two men on interstate 64 overnight. 10 on your side's rico bush is in newport news not far from the scene. rico what are state police saying? on today's date, february 18 2016, at approximately 2 am. the virginia state police communications center received a call of a possible shooting. the incident occurred on interstate 64 at mile marker 259 (near harpisville road), in the city of newport news. two male occupants were traveling in the left lane of interstate 64 when an unknown vehicle pulled up beside them and fired upon them. both victims were transported to riverside hospital, suffering non life threating injuries. no information regarding suspect's vehicle has been obtained. the vsp bureau of criminal investigations was called upon to investigate the shooting and are currently at the scene. the scene is safe at this

happening today the trial is scheduled to begin against a local woman accused of stealing a dog on the eastern shore. deputies in accomack county say a neighbor saw bettina rodriguez and two others steal a dog on matthews road in january of last year. the witness said rodriquez, charlene boyajian, and gordon shell put the dog in a u-haul and drove away.

chesapeake bay bridge tunnel and found the group, but not the dog. deputies believe they handed the dog to someone shell's trials start later. each face a charge of stealing an animal. developing this morning, we're working to learn more information after police say a three-year-old boy was accidentally shot last night in suffolk. it happened in the applewoods farms neighborhood around 7:30 last night. the boy was reportedly shot at a home on jonathans way. paramedics flew the victim to sentara norfolk general the child is expected to survive. neighbors tell us it's alarming. erin moore- neighbor "very sad, very sad and conflicted, definitely for sure so i'm hoping the child survives and does well." we're working to learn who shot the boy and how. police have not said if they will file charges.

apple's fight over a judge's order is developing this morning. people on both sides of the issue have come forward. senator ted cruz and the new york police department support the order. a judge is forcing apple to help the f-b-i unlock an i-phone belonging to a suspected terrorist in the san bernardino shooting. digital rights advocates oppose the demand. people who support apple's decision rallied outside their store in san francisco yesterday. they agree with apple that the order endagers phone privacy for millions of users. apple's c-e-o, tim cook said the order sets a dangerous precedent. a hampton man is due in court this morning after police say he tried to rob a store last month. but instead of getting cash, the suspect ended up in the hospital. a store clerk shot 21-year-old tacarie veney when police say he held up the gift card a-t-m store on west mercury boulevard on january 29th. veney's injuries were not serious. he went to the hospital, and then to

layne said the agreement that must be signed by april 30th does not make the project a done deal. the city manager told 10 on your side the memorandum of understanding should be before city council in 30 days. there's good news for local shipyards and their employees this morning. the navy signed a contract that could be worth about two and a half billion dollars through 20-21. that money could go to three norfolk shipyards including b-a-e systems, which plans to layoff 530 employees in march. the two other yards involved are marine hydraulics and general dynamics. the award won't be enough to stop the layoffs, but it could help workers get jobs in the future. attention job seekers, target is hiring hundreds of new people to work in their distribution center in suffolk. the company says it's expanding the facility on manning bridge road and adding six- hundred new jobs. the new gigs are mostly in packaging and shipping. if you're interested,
